Best Places To See Fall Foliage Around Chattanooga

Overlooking the banks of the Tennessee River, Chattanooga is nestled in the spot where the Appalachian Mountains meet the Cumberland Plateau. It's surrounded by some of America's most spectacular scenery, and autumn just might be the season when Chattanooga looks its best.

For anyone with an eye for natural beauty, Chattanooga is a great place to call home. Our real estate agents are excited to share some of our favorite spots for fall foliage around the Chattanooga area!

1. Tennessee Riverpark - 4301 Amnicola Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37402

Meandering along the Chattanooga riverfront, Tennessee Riverpark is an amazing resource for locals looking for a chance to get a breath of fresh air. This 10-mile linear park offers charming landscapes and an abundance of fall foliage, making it one of the city's most treasured walking and biking routes. A stone's throw from Chattanooga homes for sale all over the city, Tennessee Riverpark also offers picnic areas, fishing piers, public art displays, and numerous scenic overlooks.

2. Prentice Cooper State Forest - 3998 Game Reserve Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37405

It's rare to find true wilderness so close to a major metropolitan area, but Prentice Cooper State Forest is special. Spanning nearly 25,000 acres, the forest is mere minutes from Downtown Chattanooga but feels worlds away. Dotted with primitive backcountry campsites and crisscrossed by more than 35 miles of hiking trails, it's a perfect place to get off the grid and enjoy Tennessee's vibrant fall colors. Because it's so close to the city, parts of the forest are heavily used by the public, so it's always a good idea to visit on a weekday to experience the silent forest in all its splendor.

3. Southern Belle Riverboat - 151 Riverfront Pkwy, Chattanooga, TN 37402

It's hard to imagine a better way to experience the colors of fall than aboard a historic riverboat on the Tennessee River. Boarding the Southern Belle Riverboat is like stepping back in time, with guided tours that spotlight not only the Tennessee River Valley's extraordinary scenery but its rich history as well. Lunch, dinner, and sightseeing cruises depart from the Chattanooga waterfront docks throughout the week, and tickets are available online.

4. Signal Point - Signal Mountain, TN 37377

Offering expansive views of the Cumberland Plateau, Signal Point is a rugged mountain overlook just northwest of Chattanooga. It's accessible by road or hiking trail, perched at the top of Signal Mountain. The overlook is located within Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, just minutes from these Signal Mountain homes for sale.

5. Lula Lake Land Trust - 5000 Lula Lake Rd, Lookout Mountain, GA 30750

Just across the Tennessee River—and the Georgia state line—the picturesque landscape of Lula Lake Land Trust always looks its best adorned in the reds and yellows of fall. Lula Falls is a highlight of the 8,000-acre preserve, tumbling 120 feet over the rim of a rugged gorge. The land trust is only open to the public on select dates, so be sure to plan ahead and make a reservation.
